Rexall Centre Welcomes Ladies for Special Reception

August 14, 2007 - More than 400 women from the Toronto Ladies Tennis League were invited to the Rogers Cup presented by American Express on Tuesday morning for a special Miele Ladies Day Reception before play got under way at Rexall Centre.

A number of guest speakers were at the event to welcome the women, including No. 9 seed Dinara Safina of Russia, who participated in a question and answer period before assisting with a raffle to give away several great prizes.

Other guest speakers included Rogers Cup tournament director Karl Hale; Stacey Allaster, President of the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour; Jan Heck, President of Miele Canada; and Liz Wood, President of the Toronto Ladies Tennis League.

As part of the event, all of the ladies received breakfast, tickets to the matches, a goody bag filled with gifts from Miele, and special Breast Cancer “Hope” Tennis Balls to honour Carmel Derdaele, a long time employee of Tennis Canada, who passed away from breast cancer earlier this year.
