Victorious & Vogue Embodies Women's Tennis in Toronto this Summer June 14, 2007 - Tennis Canada announced Thursday its new theme, entitled Victorious & Vogue for the 2007 Rogers Cup presented by American Express. The highlights of Victorious & Vogue include the addition of nine fashion shows on site at Rexall Centre, a video production depicting the history of tennis fashion, a luxurious players’ spa service and on-site artistic enhancements. “As one of the premiere stops on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour, we must always raise the level of fan experience and player services,” expressed Karl Hale, tournament director, Rogers Cup presented by American Express. “Victorious & Vogue best describes the image of women’s tennis. The players represent the unique combination of strength, competitiveness, grace, fashion and glamour, with winning as their ultimate goal. Many of today’s tennis stars are involved in the fashion industry, either with their own line of tennis clothing or through an affiliation with fashion designers. Players and tennis enthusiasts alike are going to find this year’s tournament a unique sporting and cultural event.” Fans walking the grounds of Rexall Centre will notice a certain touch of flare and style as models make their moves on the catwalk during nine fashion shows open entirely to the public. The events, directed by cutting-edge fashion and restaurant designer Brenda Bent, will showcase the latest tennis fashion, a history of tennis wear throughout the ages, along with both casual and formal apparel. Video theatres depicting the history of women’s tennis fashion will be on display all week and special artistic giant tennis racquets will be designed by students of the Etobicoke School of the Arts and scattered throughout the site. Other amenities in the Player’s Lounge include private new media and internet stations, as well as luxurious gift bags similar to those given to presenters at award shows. | |||||||||||||||
