Valspar Paint Performance Challenge Comes to Toronto August 15, 2007 - One lucky fan came to the Rexall Centre on Tuesday to watch some exciting tennis action, and walked away with a booked vacation for he and his wife. The Valspar Paint Performance Challenge occurred at the Rogers Cup presented by American Express on Tuesday, and when all was said and done, Mark Williams had collected a trip for two to the upcoming US Open in New York. The Performance Challenge is scheduled to take place in the nine different cities that host a US Open Series Lever 2000 Challenge event. Six targets are set up on the court and contestants have 60 seconds (30 for the forehand and 30 for the backhand) to hit as many targets as possible. The winner of the Toronto edition, a Sunwing Airlines executive from Oakville, Ontario, claimed the grand prize after hitting 13 targets to beat out five other finalists. “I love playing tennis, so it was very cool to be on centre court for this. I can’t believe I won! I’m going to have to set up targets at home so I can practice,” he exclaimed after winning the contest. Williams’ prize includes the flight to New York City, two nights hotel accommodations, and $500 in spending money. Once there, he will compete against the winners from the other eight cities as part of Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day. Should he come out on top in New York, Williams will join two male and two female professional tennis players, as well as one lucky child, on centre court of Arthur Ashe Stadium, a match that will be broadcast live on CBS. | |||||||||||||||
