Toronto, May 6, 2015 – Tennis Canada announced on Wednesday that Aces will be returning to Sportsnet 590 The FAN for a sixth season on May 7 at 7 p.m. ET. An hour-long radio program dedicated to tennis, Aces is an in-depth and interactive show hosted by Tom Tebbutt and Roger Lajoie. Each episode features interviews with some of the sport’s top players, coaches, and media personalities, as well as discussion of the latest tennis news, fan questions, and prizing.
“We are very excited about working with Sportsnet 590 The FAN on another season of Aces,” said Kelly Murumets, president and CEO, Tennis Canada. “Much like the sport of tennis itself, Aces has grown so much over the past few years that it is now a staple on Sportsnet 590 The FAN every year. It is so critical for the growth and promotion of tennis to offer fans another way to follow the sport, and as a tennis fan myself I look forward to listening to another season.”
Returning for his fifth season as co-host of Aces, Tebbutt will be joined once again by veteran radio personality Lajoie. Canada’s top tennis journalist, Tebbutt has been covering the sport for over 35 years and he will continue to share his insights from the tennis world with Aces listeners.
Aces will air 10 episodes in the summer through the US Open, with each edition featuring interviews and discussions with different tennis personalities. Among the guests who made appearances last year were Bob and Mike Bryan, Chris Evert, Nick Bollettieri, Ivan Ljubicic, Jack Sock, and Vasek Pospisil. Many other tennis legends have stopped by the program as well, including John McEnroe, Jim Courier, Kim Clijsters, Serena Williams, Daniel Nestor, and Li Na.
Beginning as a three-show pilot project in 2009, Aces was the first hour-long program dedicated to tennis on mainstream Canadian radio. It has since become a summer mainstay on Sportsnet 590 The FAN, offering tennis fans another outlet for their tennis fix. Listeners can tune in live on their AM 590 dials or by visiting www.sportsnet.ca/590. Each show will air at 7 p.m. following Prime Time Sports with Bob McCown, the nation’s highest-rated sports radio program.
