Davenport Wins Again At Amelia

World No. 1 Lindsay Davenport won her second consecutive title at the Bausch & Lomb Championships at Amelia Island. With a 7-5 7-5 win over Italian No.12 seed Silvia Farina Elia, she also notched her 47th career singles title. The powerful American, dominated in the first clay court tournament of the season and her fifth consecutive final this year. "This is a huge win," Davenport said. "Whenever I can win on clay against really tough competition, it is exciting.?

With the win Davenport becomes the first player this season to make more than $1 million in prize money.

This week Davenport and Venus Williams will headline when the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour moves to Charleston, SC for the Family Circle Cup. While Williams won the event last year, Davenport will be out to prove something. Despite playing in 83 career finals, she has never reached the finals in her six previous Family Circle Cup appearances.
