Stage set for Australian Open Final Down Under The best in Women?s tennis will battle it out this Saturday at the 2005 Australian Open Finals in Melbourne. The all-American Match-up will see no.1 seed Lindsay Davenport taking on no.7 Serena Williams. Williams is back on track and looking to knock off the no.1 seed and claim back the title she once owned as the 2003 Australian Open Champion. Serena bounced back from being down a set in her semifinal match against no.4 seed Maria Sharapova of Russia 6-2, 5-7, 6-8. In the other semifinal, Davenport also had to climb back against French woman Nathalie Dechey 2-6. 7-6(7) 6-4. The stars of the Sony Ericsson WTA will debut at the world class Rexall Centre as part of the Rogers Cup August 13 th ? 21 st , 2005.
