Fed Cup Semifinalists set for 2005 After the second day of Fed Cup action around the globe, defending champion Russia advanced by defeating Italy, 4-1, while France also moved on with a comfortable 4-1 tally over Austria. Meanwhile, Spain edged Argentina for a spot in the final four, winning a decisive doubles match to advance, 3-2. The United States also won, defeating Belgium behind the stellar play of Lindsay Davenport and Venus Williams. This week the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour players will compete in Warsaw for the J&S Cup and Portugal for the Estoril Open.
