May 2, 2005 - Justine Henin-Hardenne is on a roll. She won her second straight title Sunday narrowly defeating reigning US Open champion Svetlana Kuznetsova 3-6, 6-2, 7-5 in the finals of the $585,000 J&S Cup in Warsaw. Since returning to the court in March after a layoff due to injury, the Belgian former No.1 has compiled a 14-1 record. Henin-Hardenne, who now boasts an 11-match win streak, won the Family Circle Cup in Charleston two weeks ago. At the Estoril Open finals in Portugal, another up and coming tour star made her mark. Lucie Safarova, an 18-year-old qualifier from the Czech Republic, captured her first Sony Ericsson WTA Tour title defeating No.4 seed Na Li 6-7(4), 6-4, 6-3. Safarova entered the week ranked No.155 in the world, but her amazing win in Estoril will take her close to cracking the Top 100. This week the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour players will compete in the Qatar Total German Open 2005 in Berlin and the Grand Prix S.A.R. La Princesse Lalla Meryem in Rabat.
