Second seed Roger Federer of Switzerland got the job done quickly on Wednesday afternoon at STADE IGA in his second round match at Rogers Cup presented by National Bank.

The eight-time Wimbledon champion got his North American campaign off to a great start with a win over world no.116 Peter Polansky of Canada in two sets (6-2 et 6-1). Entirely dominated by Federer, the uneven fight lasted only 53 minutes. The Swiss magician racked up 58 points versus 33 for his opponent. He never lost his serve and broke Polansky four times. Today’s match was their second meeting: in 2014 in Toronto, Federer won 6-2, 6-0.

World no.52 Robin Haase of the Netherlands also had an easy time of it. He disposed of American Ernesto Escobedo in two sets (6-4, 6-1), hitting 12 aces on his way to victory.

Twelfth seed Roberto Bautista Agut spent 64 minutes on the court and ousted no.44 Ryan Harrison of the US (7-5 et 6-2).
