Free Family Weekend has become a tradition at this Masters 1000 event. It is a way to enjoy an eventful outing and spend quality time with the family. Children will immediately be drawn to the scavenger hunt, which will occur throughout the site when gates open on Saturday, August 7. There will be a draw for the scavenger hunt later in the day where prizes will be given away to the lucky winners. Then the ATP players will make an appearance and take part in a series of on-court activities. The excitement doesn't stop there as Canada's very own Davis Cup team will be available for an autograph session on the main stage at 12:00 p.m.
Next on the schedule is the Celebrity Tennis Challenge, which has been a highlight for fans in the past and this year it will take place on Centre Court at 2:00 p.m. The celebrities scheduled to appear include local TV personalities, Idol judges, NHL Hockey Players, MLB baseball players plus two ATP stars.
The anthem contest is making a comeback as well on qualifying Sunday where two people will get a chance to sing the national anthem on Monday night and final Sunday of the tournament. In preparation for the competition, willing participants are invited to upload a video of themselves singing Canada's anthem on the Rogers Cup Facebook page. The lucky competitors that are chosen will compete on Sunday, August 8 in front of the famous Idol judges.
Rogers Cup has a lot of great activities for kids and parents as the retail village offers a great opportunity for the shopping inclined. A few of the featured stores include, The Merchant of Tennis, Adidas, Olympus and Playstation will be set-up throughout the week.
