It will be easier than ever for fans to follow, participate in, and get to Rogers Cup presented by National Bank this year as the 2017 edition of the official tournament app is released. Now available for download via the App Store and Google Play, the Rogers Cup app offers exclusive games and chances to win prizes, the latest news and tournament updates, and easy navigation to the stadiums.
“As we aim to provide our fans around the world and our guests on-site with the best possible experience, our official tournament app is more important than ever,” said Karl Hale, Rogers Cup Toronto tournament director. “The app is set to offer some favourite features from last year like the Bracket Challenge and Streak Challenge presented by Fila, and some exciting new initiatives like ordering food to your seat. It will definitely be a must-download for anyone looking to attend Rogers Cup.”
The updated app will aid guests right from the time they leave their home to head to Rogers Cup. Partnering with popular traffic and navigation app WAZE, the parking assistant available on the Rogers Cup app will direct ticketholders to the parking lots. In Toronto, the app will also then let fans know when to expect the next shuttle bus to take them right to Aviva Centre.
Rogers Cup spectators will have plenty of opportunities to engage with the tournament and win prizes thanks to three games in the app:
Allowing fans to never miss a point will be the in-seat service feature, unique in the world of tennis. Piloted in a small section of Aviva Centre last year, now spectators sitting in the lower bowls of the main stadiums in Toronto and Montreal can order food directly to their seats from the app. Orders will be delivered during changeovers.
“We always want to push ourselves to be better with every tournament, and we have done the same with our app this year,” said Eugene Lapierre, Rogers Cup Montreal tournament director. “It has never been truer that an app is a critical aspect of the event experience for fans, and with that in mind the Rogers Cup app will be the best way for fans to get all the important information they need and also to really interact with the tournament.”
Rogers customers will also be able to access the new and improved GamePlus™ section of the app, providing fans in Toronto and Montreal with free VIP experiences like behind-the-scenes tours, player meet and greets and autographed merchandise.
Free Wi-Fi will be available to all spectators on-site at Rogers Cup this year, so everyone can make use of all the upgraded app features.
Outside of the app, other digital enhancements to the tournament this year include virtual reality. Powered by Vantrix, a pioneer in media processing and 360 virtual reality systems, guests on-site can visit the Rogers Fan Hub for a unique city-to-city experience. Offering a unique courtside view, the virtual reality experience will give spectators in Toronto the chance to view live matches in Montreal and vice versa.
“We are excited to partner with Tennis Canada to provide our broadcast quality VR camera system, cloud connectivity and live streaming, so viewers can immerse themselves in the live action,” said Jean Mayrand, founder and CEO of Vantrix.
Owned and operated by Tennis Canada, Rogers Cup presented by National Bank will welcome the best players of the ATP World Tour from August 4-13 at STADE IGA in Montreal and the top players of the WTA from August 5-13 at Aviva Centre in Toronto. As a not-for-profit organization, Tennis Canada invests all net proceeds from the tournament right back into growing the sport of tennis across Canada.
