STADE IGA will once again host the best women’s tennis players in the world when the WTA returns to Montreal from July 22-31, 2016.

The last time the ladies visited us in 2014, the Rogers Cup presented by National Bankwas one star-studded affair. Montreal hosted the legendary Williams sisters together for the first time and Serena and Venus ending up playing eachother in one of the most memorable Rogers Cup semifinals ever. Not to mention that Maria Sharapova played her first match in Montreal since 2008 and Canadian superstar Eugenie Bouchard received a hero’s welcome from her hometown fans.

Next year’s tournament promises to be even better. In addition the WTA’s ‘big three’, Victoria Azarenka and Caroline Wozniacki are healthy again while Bouchard appears to be coming out of her sophomore slump. Past champions Ana Ivanovic, Petra Kvitova, and Agnieszka Radwanska hold a special place in their hearts for Montreal.

The next generation, led by defending Rogers Cup champion 18-year-old Belinda Bencic, are going to be exciting to watch to say the least.

With the Rio Summer Olympic Games set for next August, the Rogers Cup had been moved up on the 2016 tennis calendar to be held before the Games during the last week of July beginning on Friday the 22nd with free player practices which are open to the public.

In 2014, Montreal set a new world attendance record for a one week women’s tournament, let’s try and break our record again in 2016! Buy your tickets now by calling 1.855.TENNIS.0.
