The first day of main draw action got underway today, highlighted by several thrilling three-set matches on Centre Court.
Croatian youngster Borna Coric survived a first-set letdown against countryman Ivan Dodig to prevail 5-7, 6-4, 6-2. Also coming back from a set down was Grigor Dimitrov, who despite coming into the tournament struggling with his form managed to get the win over No. 107 Yuichi Sugita.
John Isner advanced to the second round following his own come-from-behind victory over Dudi Sela, who is over a foot shorter than the towering American. Isner struck 15 aces en route to a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory. Elsewhere, Canadian wild cards Peter Polansky and Steven Diez notched two big wins over higher ranked players in Tim Smyczek and Kyle Edmund, respectively.
Night session action saw a massive upset win for junior Wimbledon champ Denis Shapovalov over Nick Kyrgios, and Canadian favourite Frank Dancevic take on Sam Querrey of the United States.
