He’s done it.

Milos Raonic defeated 17-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer 6-3, 6-7, 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 to advance to his first Grand Slam final. With the win, Raonic becomes the first Canadian man to play for the Wimbledon title in singles.

The Thornhill, Ontario resident topped Federer in a three hour and 25-minute display of phenomenal tennis. Raonic launched 23 aces and his fastest serve of the contest registered at an impressive 144 km/h. The victory improves Raonic’s record over the seven-time All England Club champ to 3-9, with two of those wins coming this year. In January, Raonic defeated the Swiss star in the Brisbane final.

Now, Canada’s top-ranked singles player moves on to face the winner of the other semifinal between Andy Murray and Tomas Berdych. Second-seeded Andy Murray captured his first and only Wimbledon title back in 2013, and has the crowd behind him as he attempts to join Raonic in Sunday’s championship match. Follow @tenniscanada for further updates.
