Filip Peliwo, who fell 6-1, 5-7, 6-2 to Sergiy Stakhovsky:

“You saw when I was rallying with him, hitting high, hitting heavy, moving him around, hitting high percentage, a lot of crosscourts without trying to change direction on one of the first balls, my game was more than enough to beat this guy.”

“He did well to stay in there in the third set and take his opportunities when he had them. So credit to him for that.”

Philip Bester, who fell 6-2, 6-3 to Gilles Muller:

“It’s not so much that I was too impressed by how he was playing. I thought I was there myself. He was just the better player today. I just got to have a short memory, move on, continue to do what I’ve been doing ’cause things at least from my end have been going well also.”

Gaël Monfils [15], who beat Fabio Fognini 6-3, 6-1:

“I played a solid match. It was important to me. I wanted to start off this tournament well. It was not a great match, but I didn’t play bad. I was solid. I didn’t give away any points.”

“I know he sometimes is capable of losing focus during the match, which happened to him in the end of the first set. He got annoyed with the breakpoints. After that, he hurt himself. I was able to stay solid.”
