#GetCloser: Seen and Heard on a packed Tuesday at Rogers Cup

Wednesday, Jul 27

Onwards and upwards at Rogers Cup presented by National Bank as the first round wrapped up on Tuesday. It was yet another jam-packed day of activity, as the sun shone on the Aviva Centre courts.

The big news on the day – Vasek Pospisil made it FIVE Canadians in the second round! He won the first set over Jeremy Chardy before the Frenchman retired. A former semifinalist in 2013, Vashy is ready for round two.

And who will he be playing on Wednesday? Fan favourite Gael Monfils. He’ll take on Pospisil in a thriller – no doubt Grandstand Court will be packed for that one!

Speaking of a packed Grandstand, it was standing-room only for the Novak Djokovic-Nenad Zimonjic versus Adil Shamasdin-Philip Bester doubles. And who came out the winner? The Canadians, scoring the upset!

Even Daniel Nestor wanted in on the blockbuster doubles duel.

First he hit with Milos Raonic, and now Sir Richard Branson is hamming it up with world No. 1 Djokovic.

Another day, another chance to get closer to the best players in the world! Among the visitors on Tuesday were Jack Sock and Daniel Nestor, to the Sporting Life tent.

No. 7 seed David Goffin also popped by the National Bank Premium Series Club Lounge.

Kevin Anderson was the special guest at Cashmere Ladies Day. A year of free bathroom tissue? Sounds like a pretty sweet deal!

And to end it all, a beautiful night of tennis.
