Vasek Pospisil and partner Jack Sock finished their 2016 BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells as runners-up, falling to Frenchmen Nicolas Mahut and Pierre-Hugues Herbert 6-3, 7-6(5) in the men’s doubles final on Saturday.
The No. 6-seeded team, Pospisil and Sock entered the match as defending champions. It was a close duel against the No. 7 seeds, but ultimately Mahut and Herbert were the better duo. Saving all five break points they faced, the French teammates closed it out in one hour and 20 minutes.
This was Pospisock’s first final of the year together. Pospisil already has one doubles title on the 2016 season, actually pairing up with Mahut to win Rotterdam in February.
