Raonic undone in Miami quarter-finals by Kyrgios

Saturday, Apr 2

Milos Raonic had his run at the Miami Open come to an end on Thursday evening, as he fell to Aussie Nick Kyrgios 6-4, 7-6(4) in the quarter-finals.

Lasting one hour and 44 minutes, Raonic was only broken once all match-long but it was enough for Kyrgios to swoop in for the win. Raonic went 0-for-5 on break chance opportunities in the closely-played duel.

With the win, Kyrgios advances into his first ATP World Tour Masters 1000 semifinal where he will face Kei Nishikori.

For Raonic, it is his first tournament of the season he hasn’t reached the semifinals. Previously he won the Brisbane title, and reached the Australian Open semifinals and Indian Wells final. He is now 17-3 on the season. Currently ranked world No. 12, he is No. 2 behind only Novak Djokovic in the Singles Race to London, which tallies the points earned in the calendar year so far.
